More Details
Additional fibre sources such as Meadow Hay Chaff and Sugar Beet pulp have been introduced to further enhance the natural fibre intake, and minimise the possibility of rumen acidosis as a result of feeding fermentable cereals. Sugar Beet has been included in horse formulations for a number of years as a natural fermentable fibre source, noted for its slow release of energy through microbial fermentation in the hind gut.
Whilst the fat soluble Vitamins A, D and E would be present in most conventional ruminant supplements, Alpaca and Llama Pellets also contain Vitamin B1, the vitamin implicated in PEM (Polioencephalomalacia) and Biotin, another B group vitamin active in horn and hoof development.
Nutritional levels of trace minerals and vitamins are included in Alpaca and llama Pellets, plus inorganic phosphorus as Dicalcium Phosphate to provide for the generally recognised higher requirements for phosphorus by Camelids in general. Calcium, Phosphorus and Vitamin D are important for bone growth and density, an important consideration in the Crias development. Facial Excema Control Zinc Oxide is included in this formulation to provide 8 grams of elemental Zinc per kilo of feed, as an aid in the prevention of Facial Excema

SUGGESTED FEEDING GUIDE
Alpaca and Llama Pellets are designed to supplement pasture during times of poor pasture growth, quality, and during physiological periods of development that require greater nutrient intake, ie lactation.
Amounts to be fed will depend on animal condition and required growth rates.
Feeding Rate - 250 grams per head per day (supplies 2 grams of elemental Zinc)
Note: Do not offer additional Zinc supplements with this feed without prior consultation with your Vet
Always introduce feed gradually to allow the rumen microflora to adjust to new feed ingredients.
